White Ribbon USA is connected to the greater global White Ribbon Campaign that was originated in Canada in 1991 and has deep, established roots grounded in efforts that address gender based discrimination against women and gender equality.

White Ribbon USA is dedicated to:

• Making a difference in local and regional communities to end violence against women

• Implementing awareness campaigns to establish gender equality

• Conducting educational campaigns to engage and educate men to stand up against gender based and domestic violence towards women

• Create awareness, advocacy and educational content to promote gender equality, tolerance and activism against violence and discrimination

• Improving organizational culture of companies and corporations, safety and morale in a way that empowers women

• Increasing the knowledge and skills of staff to address violence against women and gender based discrimination at work places

• Improving organizational reputations and non discrimination policies

• Improving the experience of customers and stakeholders

• Becoming an employer of choice creating as many opportunities as possible

During the past years, the White Ribbon campaign was focused on fighting domestic violence and discrimination. But after doing research and evaluations, we have realized that domestic violence is a consequence of a much larger problem that is biased narratives against women; specifically biased stereotypical thinking that was formed over many years. This is the main cause of women inequality in society that leads to discrimination, violence, and abuse, thus creating barriers that hold women back in terms of their rights, influence, and power.
